PublicationsThese publications are provided to offer further insight into the existence of Specimen Provenance Errors (SPE), such as foreign cell contamination and specimen mislabeling, in the biopsy evaluation process. Additionally, these documents substantiate the need for DNA verification of positive biopsy results to prevent diagnostic mistakes resulting from SPE.
The know errorĀ® system was developed to specifically address the clinical problems revealed in these publications. Through the use of forensic DNA testing and bar code technology, the system dramatically reduces the incidence of SPE -- and identifies otherwise undetected SPE -- so that diagnostic mistakes are minimized.
